Commercial Lathes: Haas TL-1 Lathe–SN: 3075207—*****Engineer Notes***** During today’s PM, I started with the electrical, all the voltages and connections were good. I checked the regen and it is clean and operational. No backup batteries for this machine. The controller is still in great condition, the buttons are readable and functional. I was unable to get a backup. The window seals on the front side of the door are showing signs of wear and will need to be replaced. The rollers are very stiff but operational. I adjusted the bottom of the door to put it back on the track. The machine was still within HAAS spec on the level and all the backlashes. No issues with the spindle, both the spindle belt and encoder belt are in good condition. I took the ball screw cover plates off and cleaned the extra chips and grease that was built up underneath. I greased all the manual fittings for the X, and Z axis. I was able to verify that grease was getting on the linear guides and the ball screw for this machine. I also greased the 3 zirc fittings for the tailstock. Overall, this machine is in good condition for the age.

Haas HL-1 Lathe–SN: 61501, This machine is not in operating condition—*****Engineer Notes***** Today during the PM, I started with electrical and all the voltages checked out good. I replaced the air filter on the back of the electrical cabinet and made sure that the fans were functional. The electrical connections are still nice and tight. The plastic lens covering the work light is old and stained and should be replaced. The controller fails to boot up. I tried to restart it several times with no luck. Customer will need Service to troubleshoot further. The door glass is not see thru anymore and could be replaced. I was unable to check geometry of the machine due to the controller not working. I was unable to check waylube system due to the controller not working. Waylube oil is about 1/3 full. Customer has more Vactra #2 coming in on 9/24. I will refill it if they want me to. Chuck pressure gauge on front of machine is broken, does not work. The spindle and encoder belts are starting to crack. I recommend the customer replace them. Customer has more DTE24 coming in on 9/25. I will change the hydraulic oil then if the customer wants me to. No problems with the incoming air to the machine. Customer is not running coolant on this machine. I cleaned up the chips that were built up underneath the covers. I was unable to check the turret functions due to the controller not working. I removed the way covers and checked the wipers, they are still in decent shape. Hardly any chips are getting underneath the axis. Control panel had these alarms before the controller stopped working: 102 Servos off, 138 A Motor overheat, 112 No Interrupt.

Everything is clean inside and all connections are tight. There are no back-up batteries. I was unable to get a backup of the controller. I replaced the air filter on the electrical cabinet door, PN 93-59-0026. There is a loud noise coming from the Vector drive. Could possibly be a cooling fan, customer will need Service to troubleshoot further. No problems with the control panel. RJH works when jogging X & Z axis, not Y axis. The left hand door is missing a top set of rollers. The right hand door lower rollers are missing the tension spring. The work light is not working, will need to be replaced. The backlashes and level on this machine are all within HAAS spec. I pulled the waycovers back to verify that it was clean underneath and to re-lube the linear rails. All axis’ are getting proper lubrication. Not very much coolant or chips under the waycovers. I refilled the waylube tank with Vactra #2. No problems here. Counter balance system is functioning correctly. Tank pressure is holding steady @ 1000 psi. Correct pressure is 1150 psi, but it is holding the Z axis with no drop. Everything looks good on the spindle. I greased the drawbar pull stud, pressure is within HAAS spec. The spindle belts are dirty, but still look like they are in good condition. Coolant pump has good pressure. Customer should clean out and replace the coolant, the tank is full of metal chips across the bottom. Everything looks good on the tool changer. I cleaned and greased the springs inside the umbrella. No issues with changing tools. 1 pocket had a damaged spring, I replaced it with truck stock PN 24-2010A. The wipers are starting to show signs of age. The X and Y waycovers have chunks missing from the wipers. Overall, this machine is in good shape for its age.
